Feline creatures with massive heads dominate the fantastical paintings of Thiago Goms (*1984, Brazil). In morning light (2020), Gomes depicts a dimly illuminated cat-human hybrid sitting on their bed, surrounded by empty bottles. Despite the image’s reflective, or even somber, scene, Gomes describes this piece as “believing in a better day tomorrow morning.”
