Gosia Machon
Born 1979 in Pszczyna, Poland, lives and works in Hamburg and Ellwangen
Gosia Machon makes figurative-abstract paintings and ink drawings on paper, working intuitively from an inner archive of unconscious, autobiographical and collective memories and images. At the centre of the work is a longing for untouched nature: biotopes and plants become mirrors for the meanders of the human psyche and body, and for the piece of wilderness within each of us. In the ink drawings, figures and landscape dissolve into one another, and graphic elements bring calm, clarity and simplicity to scenes that render mental states and conditions. Machon also works in screen printing and artist's books, and aims for pictures with a musical quality, an inner timbre that crunches, sighs, giggles or hums.
