Description

Georg Haberler (*1985) lives and works in Vienna, Austria. He works with mixed-media and constructs worlds through impressive compositions that seem to be on the verge of collapse, but always maintain their balance. Animals, objects, and architectural structures bustle about in Haberler’s signature imagery, embroidered with black and white thread on unprimed canvas. The artist arranges them in a playful and idiosyncratic way with each other and, like a Hidden Object painting (Wimmelbild), invites the viewer to find their own story. He graduated from the Academy of Fine Arts in Vienna in 2015. His studies in painting included a semester at FBAUB in Porto, Portugal and at HFBK in Hamburg, Germany. He most recently showed his work at Weserhalle (2023), Steirischer Herbst in Graz (2023), Collaborations, Copenhagen (2022), Gallery Droste, Paris (2022), SUPPAN, Vienna (2022), Neue Galerie, Graz (2021)
