The Linguist is one of Lucas Lelieveld’s (*1969, Netherlands) moodier works. Lelieveld is interested in the ways in which our domestic spaces mirror our emotional interiors. The Linguist factually represents a student apartment in Copenhagen, but its cool, green-blue palette evokes the feeling of empty nest syndrome: when parents are at home after all of their children have moved out.
