Tamir David

Sticking, 2020.
Gouache on wood.
28 × 30 cm.

Self-taught artist Tamir David (*1971, Israel) considers “the new male” in his uncanny portrait, sticking (2020). In this work, a half-dressed male figure poses with a proud hand on his hip, despite being nude from the waist down. Like a plastic doll, his groin is entirely smooth, legs sprawling, provocatively indicating a future both castrated and eerie for masculinity.
