Frequently Asked Questions

How do I register for an auction?
To place bids in an auction on, the first step is to Register. If you have already registered with us before, ensure that you are logged in. Once you’re logged in, simply navigate to the artwork page. Happy bidding!
How do I place a bid?
Bidding is easy with Weserhalle’s automatic bidding system. Select any bidding amount greater than or equal to the minimum bid shown, then click the “Place a Bid” button. This will automatically place a bid for you at the next increment and save the amount you entered (if higher) as your maximum bid. Don’t worry—we won’t let you bid against yourself. You will be notified via email each time you are outbid.
Why was I immediately outbid?
If you are outbid immediately after placing a bid, it’s likely that another bidder is using Maximum bidding and has a maximum limit higher than yours. You’ll need to increase your maximum limit in order to be the highest bidder. For more information, please get in touch.
What is a maximum bid?
If you enter a bid amount higher than the next minimum bid, the amount you enter is treated as your “Maximum Bid.” Entering a Maximum Bid does not necessarily mean you will pay that price, and you may pay less. As the auction progresses, our system will bid automatically for you against other bidders, according to our automatic bidding increments, up to (but not exceeding) your Maximum Bid, only as much as necessary to maintain your position as highest bidder. If two bidders attempt to enter the same Maximum Bid, the first bidder to enter that amount will be the winner.
What is the Watchlist all about?
If you’re curious about an artwork but not ready to make a bid, you can add the item to your watchlist. You will be notified of the bidding activity on the selected artwork via email.
Emails & Alerts
Bidders will receive an email to confirm when their bid has been received, and an email to notify them when they are outbid. After the auction, winning bidders will also receive an email to notify them of their winning bid. Please be sure to register with a valid email address and to check your email frequently during an auction to make sure you receive all relevant updates.
How do payments work?
Winning bidders will receive an email after the auction with instructions for how to checkout and pay for purchased items. We only take direct bank transfers. If this is a problem you can contact us to discuss alternatives.
What about tax?
The final auction price of the artwork will be subject to an additional reduced tax rate of 19%.
How does the delivery work?
The cost of delivery is in addition to the price of the artwork, and will vary depending on your location and the size of the work. This will be arranged once we have received payment for the artwork. Collection from the gallery is also possible. The delivery prices include packaging.
