Open Call 14: Weserhalle Art Auction

Weserhalle is delighted to announce the open call for our 14th Art Auction, unique opportunity for artists worldwide to present their work to our vibrant community of collectors. We are seeking one standout artwork to be considered for a physical exhibition in Berlin and featured in our highly anticipated online auction. All work will be reviewed by the team at Weserhalle, alongside this year’s guest curators, Tjioe Meyer Hecken and Jan Gustav Fiedler.

Deadline: Sunday, July 20th, 23:59 CET
Eligibility: Worldwide
Artworks: One per artist
Application Fee: 10€

PayPal/Debit + Credit Cards accepted

Please note the following key terms:
• A 50% commission applies to all sales.
• Artists are responsible for all delivery and return shipping costs.
• Artworks over 80cm are eligible for online presentation only.
• Works on paper must be delivered framed at the artist’s expense

What Selected Artists Receive
Selected artists will have their work showcased in a curated group exhibition at our Berlin gallery, with the potential for an additional presentation at a unique venue in Mitte. Each piece will then be professionally photographed and made available within our online art auction format. The work will also be actively promoted across Weserhalle’s social networks to our established community of collectors, providing significant exposure for both the artist and their work.

July 20: Application deadline.
July 27: All applicants notified of the outcome.
August 4: Deadline to deliver artwork to Berlin.
August 8 – 17: The online auction takes place.

Tjioe Meyer Hecken is the Director of the Wehrmuehle, the historic home of Art Biesenthal. She curates exhibitions that forge connections between tradition, place, and contemporary artistic vision. Her curatorial approach emphasises an immersive experience, inviting visitors to engage with art and nature in a serene setting. She is dedicated to offering a platform for both established and emerging artists, fostering meaningful connections and cross-disciplinary dialogue.

Jan Gustav Fiedler, Artistic Director of Spark Art Fair Vienna since 2023, works as a curator with international galleries, and institutions. His curatorial practice follows the approach of offering young and emerging artists in particular a platform for contemporary narratives. Often, historical spaces form the architectural framework of these projects, whose contents connote the original function of these places in a new way. Fiedler has realised such exhibitions in Austria, Germany, Italy, Serbia, and the USA, among others.
