Dustin Brown

Dustin Brown paints in oil and acrylic on canvas, building scenes of intimacy in which faceless figures interact with nature, animals and one another. Milky gradients and pastel objects give the paintings a calm, joyful surface, but a closer look reveals an imbalance between foreground and background that makes the scenes feel artificial. Recurring motifs such as yellow flowers, body parts and brown boots act as markers along an emotional path. Brown's subject is the human search for purpose and the obstacles that make people question their desires, drawn from difficult moments of transition in his own life and turned towards something more positive.
