Joseba Eskubi paints mainly in oil on canvas, alongside work in acrylic, collage, small objects and digital drawing. His images hover between figuration and abstraction: soft, amorphous forms that suggest organic matter, bodily fragments, landscape or still life without ever settling into any of them. Figures appear ghostlike and metamorphic against dark grounds, shifting shape the moment they seem recognisable. Eskubi works through repetition and variation, without a fixed reference, letting the painting guide him and building the image in successive layers that cover, mask and rewrite what lies beneath. Decay, decomposition and the porous line between living and inanimate matter run through the work.
