Vasil Berela

Vasil Berela works across media, placing the human body in geometric, laboratory-like environments where organic and virtual forms meet. His work deals with human emotion, alienation and the fragility of the body, and blurs the line between inside and outside. In one work in resin and glass, a woman lies on a podium with her arm raised in the typical selfie pose; her naked body stays colourless while a projection of her face on a monitor beside her shifts in light blue and pink skin tones, its surface broken into geometric structures that give her a cyborg-like character.
